Luz Maria Fuentes was driving a 2004 Toyota Siena on Mastic Road, near Mastic Boulevard, when her vehicle allegedly struck the rear of a mini school bus with three children and two adults on board at approximately 7:45 a.m., Suffolk County Police said.
Fuentes fled and, a short time later, her vehicle struck a trailer that was attached to a pickup truck traveling on Mastic Road and fled, according to police.
A Good Samaritan reportedly followed Fuentes to the parking lot of Island Cinemas, located at 1708 Montauk Highway, and confronted her, said police. Fuentes reportedly punched the man in the face, according to police.
Seventh Precinct officers responded and charged Fuentes, 36, of Eleanor Avenue in Mastic, with driving while intoxicated, harassment and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident.
She will be held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday, July 13.
